BENNETT: 2003 U.S. TOUR
"Widely versatile and intelligent...a world-class
songwriter - intelligence, profundity and melody." -earBuzz.com
Singer/songwriter Alan Bennett launches his first U.S. Tour
this summer as a solo acoustic/electric performer appearing in twenty cities across
the country. With a soulful voice deeply rooted in the spirit of classic Rock
'N Roll, Mr. Bennett delivers songs in a variety of styles that connect, inspire,
and resonate with his listeners. While on tour, Mr. Bennett will open for renowned
folk songwriter Ellis Paul [Cactus Cafe, Austin, TX 6/26], New Orleans-based
blues singer Mem Shannon [Biscuits and Blues, San Francisco, CA 7/19],
and innovative "found sounds" artist Billy Jonas [The Evening Muse, Charlotte,
NC 8/9]. In addition, he will appear at some of the nation's top venues including
Eddies's Attic [Decatur, GA 6/23], Tipitina's [New Orleans 6/25], The Gig [Hollywood,
CA 7/11], The Bluebird Cafe [Nashville, TN 9/14], and Makor [New York City, NY
9/16]. Please see [Road
page] for complete information about tour venues. With
his latest recording, "Bloomington Demo" (co-produced by and featuring popular
music's most sought-after drummer, Kenny Aronoff - Bob Dylan, Elton
John, Mick Jagger, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge), Bennett
serves up three tales of irony and hope. "Cheated", a confession of deceit and
devotion, "Get to You", an obsession for a new flame fueled by an old one, and
"Could've Been Love", a smirky croon proposing skepticism over cynicism. Genuine
and optimistic, Alan's music is in high-demand. "I loved playing with Alan," recalls
Aronoff. "He loves what he does and it was inspiring to be around him in the studio."
"We spent a day tracking and a day on everything else; harmonies, horns, and mixing"
says Alan. "The players were amazing. They brought so much experience to the songs.
Especially, Kenny. I learned a lot." Recorded and mixed in two days at Echo Park
Studios in Bloomington, IN (owned by Mellencamp guitarist, Mike Wanchic), reaction
to the demo has been overwhelmingly positive. About the artist:
Singer/songwriter Alan Bennett has been a longtime favorite on New York
City club circuit performing at the city's top venues including The Living Room,
Makor, The Bitter End, Mercury Lounge, CBGB's Gallery and Arlene Grocery. Earlier
this year, Bennett began making guest appearances in Nashville's most popular
clubs such as The Bluebird Cafe and 12th & Porter. Bennett's latest CD, Bloomington
Demo, is co-produced by and features legendary rock drummer Kenny Aronoff.
In addition, Bennett has two previously released albums: Sons and Daughters
[Casette, RTR] with Kim Khare and Alan Bennett Band's Ordinary
Miracle [CD, RTR]. MP3.com listeners ranked three tracks from Ordinary
Miracle as #1 songs in the New York market and top 40 songs worldwide.
