A short history:
A native Long Islander, Alan grew up listening to pop radio and classic rock. At age 13, he bought his first guitar with garage sale money and began playing and singing. He quickly taught himself basic chords, scales, blues riffs and songs. Scratching out his first lyrics in the hallway of his junior high school, Alan soon joined two bands and started performing at parties and local bars. At college in upstate New York, he quickly emerged as a standout performer, headlining major college events and teaming up with classmate, singer/songwriter Kim Khare to form Sons and Daughters. The acoustic duo gained popularity in the northeast, playing at colleges and in clubs, appearing on radio and television programs and releasing, Sons and Daughters (Cassette, RTR). Soon after, Alan moved to Manhattan, assembled a band, recorded and released an independent CD, Ordinary Miracle (CD, RTR) and began honing his craft at the top venues on the New York City circuit (The Bitter End, The Wetlands, Mercury Lounge, Arlene Grocery and CB's Gallery). Alan lives in Nashville, and is a faculty member of
the National Guitar Workshop and WorkshopLive. |
